Heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai causing waterlogging at several places on Sunday morning. A high tide of approximately four meters and heavy downpour
created havoc at some of the low lying areas across the city. On Saturday, the city had witnessed a heavy downpour, especially in the suburban areas.
A woman was electrocuted in Mumbai's Ghatkopar and two people were swept away in heavy rain in neighbouring Thane district. Between Saturday morning and
early Sunday morning, the suburban areas of Mumbai witnessed approximately 133 mm of rain, while the city area saw only 50 mm of rain approximately. People
were seen wading through knee-deep water in many areas like Asalpha, Jogeshwari and soon among others. On Sunday it was the city area which received more
rain. According to measurements done at 5:30 pm by the metrological department for nine hours the amount of rainfall recorded in Colaba was around 123.6mm
while in suburban Santacruz it was 46.4mm. During the day there were 34 locations across the city where waterlogging was recorded. There were 20 incidents
of trees falling in the city due to heavy rain and wind but no one was injured. There was also an incident where balconies of a ground plus three floored
building came crashing on the ground. No one was said to be injured in this incident as well. Speaking about the incident Vijay Singhal, additional municipal
commissioner said, "It was a dilapidated building and we had given notice to its residents asking them to vacate it. However, they went to court which
