Our Government is keen to eradicate corruption amongst the public servants. As a result of concerted drive launched by the Vigilance Bureau, Punjab during the period from01,1.2013 to 31.12.2013 ,77 trap cases were registered in which 17 Gazetted Officers ,71 Non Gazetted Officers and 9 private persons were caught red handed while accepting illegal gratification Convictions were made by various courts in 85 sases and accused were sentenced to undergo imprisonment ranging from 1 year to 10 years and fines ranging from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 150,000/- were imposed. The Services of 3 Gazetted officers and 31 non Gazetted Officers were terminated by their Administrative Departments due to such convictions. Information and Public Relations the Information and public Relations department is entrusted with the Task of disseminating information regarding policies and programs of the state Government through print and electronic media .It aims at strengthening the social fabric of society, promoting national unity and integrity. The department acts as a bridge between the Government and the masses by providing feedback to the Government. Governance Reforms Our Government was the first in the country to appreciate the need for removing the gap between the government and the people on the one hand and for eliminating the need for officialdom in routine day to matters on the other. Punjab was also the first to see the need for a complete revamp of the administrative structure and decision-making processes, beginning from the smallest and the lowest to the highest levels. With this in view, the state launched a process of government reforms that has made a landmark and a trend setter not only for other governments ,including the government of india but also for public figures and political parties .All that we hear in the country these days about putting the common man at the centre of decision making processes began in Punjab with Governance Reforms.
